The International Postcard Show Opening

The longest running exhibition in Surface Gallery’s history, The International Postcard Show shares work from both established and emerging artists, making for a refreshing mix of art. Visitors can vote for their favourite piece and all postcards are on sale for £15 each. When the show comes to an end the unsold pieces are randomly swapped between participants, connecting artists and communities from different parts of the world together in a mass artistic exchange. Head along to the opening night this Friday, where there will be a donations bar with ales from local brewery, Pheasantry.

The lovely folks over at 23 Pelham Street are greeting 2025 with an exciting showcase of some of the best Nottingham talent around. With a line-up featuring grunge-y trio Marvin’s Revenge, shoegaze-tinged quartet Swallowtail and self-proclaimed ‘disco demons from hell’ Soaphead, among others, the Bodega team are promising an afternoon and evening full of high energy-riffs and plenty of dancing, a guaranteed musical antidote to any January blues.
Tales From the Caves: Exploring Nottingham’s Underground Stories

Why not spend your Sunday delving into the fascinating history of Nottingham’s caves. Shaped by over a thousand years of human activity, from medieval tanneries and breweries to overcrowded slums and wartime air-raid shelters, these underground spaces have provided refuge, recreation, and livelihood for generations. Traces of these lives endure in the University of Nottingham’s collections, preserving stories ranging from Robin Hood legends to modern urban explorers. Afterwards is a perfect time to take a wintery walk around Highfields Park.
