Hamish Hawk

Following on from his enchanting vocal performance last August, the Scottish singer-songwriter Hamish Hawk is back in Notts this Monday! With his band’s spiky indie-rock riffs and emotive, yet witty lyricism, makes this an evening that you won’t want to miss. Punchy basslines from his latest album A Firmer Hand, alongside support from Birmingham’s very own GANS who have drawn attention from industry legend Justin Hawkins - lead singer of The Darkness. With a line up this good, they are sure to leave you craving more!

MacBeth

Nottingham Shakespeare Company have been flying the flag since 2018, as the only theatre company in the East Midlands devoted exclusively to Shakespeare. They’re ending the winter season with an 11-date East Midlands tour of the play you shouldn’t name, directed by NSC favourite, Michelle-Louise Wright. The tour stops at All Saints Church (Loughborough), Beeston Parish Church, St Johns (Carrington), St Peter’s School (Ruddington), St Peters (City), St Giles (West Bridgford) and St Nicholas (City). Double, double, toil and trouble; fire burn, and cauldron bubble.

James Martin Live

Everyone’s favourite Saturday morning TV chef is in Nottingham this Thursday after four sell-out tours! James Martin Live will give you the chance to clean up on your cooking skills whilst also picking out those brave enough to join him on stage. More than 65,000 people attended his last two tours to witness his expert culinary skills in practice so make sure to get your tickets soon as they are selling like hotcakes!

The DSM IV

I’m Not From London presents an evening of garage punk, post-punk and everything in-between that’s punk. Storming down from Liverpool, the alt trio The DSM IV are headlining the show continuing their Family Jewels UK Tour which has included their most electric performances to date. With support from Nottingham’s very own goth & soul trio, Hurtsfall, expect a sound reminiscent of Depeche Mode and The Damned alongside the witchy duo, Modern Coven who are calling on all ghouls and ghoulettes for their first show of the year. This is not one to be missed!

The Lovers exhibition

The Lovers is a photography exhibition depicting two bodies of work created forty years apart by artists Gupta and Singh, both a couple. The collections depict LGBTQ+ couples in their homes, from the 80s, a time informed by activism and HIV/AIDS awareness, to the current day, intended as a reminder of the ongoing struggles that these communities face. Head down to the exhibition launch event on February 21, and look out for talks by the artists..

Film Course: Trans Representation on Screen

One highlight from Broadway Cinema’s exciting line up of 2025 courses on cinematic culture and history is facilitated by our very own Screen Co-editor Autumn Parker. Spanning genres like European art house and horror, while covering well-known works including I Saw the TV Glow and The Danish Girl, Autumn will take attendees on a compelling journey through the complex history of this subject, while interrogating how films influence contemporary ideas on gender.
