Currently touring his acclaimed sixth album Mahashmashana, indie rock artist-cum-satirist Father John Misty is making his first visit to Nottingham in a while - from what we can glean, it's been nearly ten years since this last one. In the interim, the former drummer of Fleet Foxes has cemented his status as one of the most indie's foremost architects of free-flowing music, with a hell-of-a-lot of thematic substance to dig into. This will be a good gig to attend if you're a lover of the most forward thinking indie music of today.

Niche Artefact - NOCTURNA: Journey Through Surrealism

If you're unaware of Niche Artefact it's one of Nottingham's most fascinating, recurring art shows that blends local visual art with stage performance, all the while setting up a safe space for the LBGTQIA+ community. This time the theme is surrealism - with drag performance, DJing, singing, and an art auction all lined up. Nominated for a BBC 'Make a Difference Award', these shows have had a lot of eyes on them - we certainly recommend that you check this one out.

Vee Adu is an 18-year-old local singer songwriter whose music incorporates diverse influences from jazz, blues, and soul. Having drummed up some buzz across our city's live music circuit for a good year now, she's secured her own headline show and Fisher Gate Point, ever the dynamic nurturers of local talent, have stepped up to host it. With a soulful voice and effortless vocal control well beyond her years, Vee is definitely an artist going some place - if you fancy a night of chilled out night of jazzy, soulful goodness we very much recommend you check this out.

If on Sunday you'll be in need of some welcoming, family-driven activities to provide good-feelings in the sunshine (hopefully), then you could do worse than check out this feel-good family fun day over near Southwell. From 1pm, lots of activities, food, and drink for all ages will be provided, followed by a 6pm charity football match between the staff of local pubs. And what's more, is that it's all for charity. The Southwell area is a lovely, underrated gem in local countryside, so anyone in need of a chilled, feel-good Sunday afternoon is bound to enjoy this one.
